Phuket Town Mookata & TomYum MaMa Noodles

“Mookata”, from ‘Thai Mookata’ is a cuisine of festival, celebration and joy, much feasted in Thai middle and low class families, communities and villages.

It’s tradition originate from short supply of cuisine ingredients, thus manifest from small individual portions of a wide variety of ingredients. Assembled, mostly, out of procurement of anything available.

A friend of mine so happened to open and own a ‘Thai Mookata’ diner stall, in a infamous social franchise of coffee shops and hawker centres in Singapore. Here’s it is:

It’s located at: Block 340 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, opens at 1800Hrs for dinner, and officially closes at 1 am late, after midnight. Closed every tuesday.

Here is it’s menu and prices, all items too, served each in small portions.

I go and eat there regularly, although only with my personal menu item selection, I dare say it is delicious. I recommend to try out the pork belly, as I was told it’s made and marinated with his own custom and special sauce recipe. For which, you can also ask for lean meat or fatty meat.

TomYum MaMa Noodle
Besides ‘Thai Mookata’ this shop sells, it also features Thailand’s traditional TomYum MaMa Noodles. With assorted ‘Thai-Chinese’ cuisine ingredients, and a spicy and sour soup base. It too, has to be ordered with a specified spicy level.

It’s smallest serving however, is enough to serve for 2 pax.
